ABOUT |
Ellie Perleberg (she/her) is a singer/songwriter from Minneapolis, Minnesota whose goal is to make the genre of country music more appealing, and a whole lot gayer.
--------- I learned to play guitar from classic country jam sessions at my grandpa's favorite senior center about 40 miles north of the twin cities, starting the very moment my fingers were big enough to wrap around the neck of my dad's old Dobro. It was shiny and I refused to learn on anything else. I've been lucky enough to play for and share the stage with my hero Brandi Carlile in 2009, and I attended Grammy Camp that same year as a Journalist and in 2012 in the Singer/Songwriter track. I've busked at Pike Place Market, recorded a single with Katie Gavin (MUNA) and Kristin Castro (Wild Heart Club, Maybe April), sang impromptu harmonies for Ingrid Michaelson, made a live music video with The Last Jackson, and sang on Larry Jamad Kirby's album recorded at Underwood Studios. I tried the Los Angeles life for a while, but I absolutely love the Minneapolis-St. Paul music scene - even the winters couldn't keep me away. When I'm not making music I'm an excellent (and super nerdy) executive assistant for a school that studies Pediatric Clinical Behavioral Neuroscience, and I'll soon have my Associate's in Human Services. I'm also an advocate for disability rights and chronic illness awareness, especially invisible ones like hydrocephalus, which has put me through three brain surgeries so far (if you catch me live I'll probably have a songbook handy - I won't let brain damage keep me from playing!) My inspirations include Brandi Carlile, Shovels & Rope, The Lone Bellow, John Prine, Mickey Guyton, Linda Ronstadt, and Noah Reid. My email is [email protected].
